I actually live in the city that was the first pre-planned city in the USA West of the Mississippi. You'd need to be a trillionaire or something to build a pre-planned city by yourself. It would take forever to build a city piecemeal like this. Eventually the trailer park would be big enough to have it's own power, water and sewage. If lucky, they would have a volunteer fire department.Īt worst, you'd have a trailer park you would need to tow and get water, dump sewage, and gas to live on, and travel out of town to get all supplies, and eventually get a power generator for electricity. At best you would have a village, and not all villages are rich enough to afford the services you mention. If a game doesn't let you start out with full infrastructure and services, it's not realistic and isn't worthwhile as a city simulator One must remember that you do not really have a city when starting a map. You can't have a city with no police and no schools. I work in urban planning and the idea of "milestones" has always driven me crazy in games.
